Board-certified gynecologist Dr. Michael DiClemente has been providing comprehensive women’s healthcare for nearly 21 years. Specializing in the evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of health issues unique to women, such as menstrual irregularities, menopause evaluation and treatment, among others, he joined Atlantic General Health System in the summer of 2022 to provide care at Atlantic General Women’s Health in Selbyville and West Ocean City. He will soon begin seeing patients in Ocean View. Dr. DiClemente has seen several new advancements in recent years enhance his ability to care for his patients. 

“There have been a number of positive developments with regard to medical treatment of uterine fibroids, endometriosis and abnormal uterine bleeding, as examples,” he said. “These options expand the number of patients who can potentially avoid surgical intervention. For those patients who require surgery, the vast majority are candidates for a minimally invasive approach. This leads to shorter recovery times, less blood loss, less pain, and patients are typically able to go home the same day.” 

Dr. DiClemente, who completed his OB/ GYN residency at University of MassachusettsWorcester, stressed the importance of women maintaining a regular screening schedule as a part of their healthcare routine. 

“Maintaining a regular screening schedule allows for the detection of abnormalities as they arise, and in most cases has a positive impact on life expectancy,” he said. “Most importantly, having an established relationship with your provider proves to be an invaluable resource when concerns arise. 

“Like most of us, when we seek care from a doctor, our symptoms are likely impacting our lives in some negative way,” Dr. DiClemente continued. “The reward comes from finding solutions that help resolve the symptoms and allow patients to return back to their regular lives.”
