Compass Mental Wellness Services of Seaford recently celebrated two milestones: its two-year business anniversary and for the second year in a row, it has been crowned the Best Counselling Center and Best Mental Health Professional of Sussex County.

Compass Mental Wellness is a veteran owned practice, with approximately 20 experienced professionals on staff, including four veterans. The practice takes pride in serving a broad range of clients within the local community.

“We are very much based on neuroscience. It is a more concrete perspective than is usually practiced within the mental health community,” said Eric Johnson, PhD, owner and licensed psychologist at Compass Mental Wellness.

The team at Compass Mental Wellness is made up of professionals with diverse educational and professional backgrounds. The team also has extensive experience in treating patients with depression, addiction, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD and many other health conditions.

“We’re really out to help folks, not only to address symptoms but also help them walk away as close to being cured as absolutely possible. Our goal is to really help patients solve the core of the problem, and we do this from a brain-science point of view,” added Chip Basel, LPCMH, licensed therapist.

Another important aspect of Compass Mental Wellness’ work is hosting internships and pursuing research opportunities. The internship program, led by Education Director and licensed therapist Jessie Howard, LPCMH, has hosted eight interns in two years.

Recently, Dr. Johnson collaborated with current intern/Walden University student Tiffany Hollis to write a chapter on the assessment of youth violence for an international publication. The team also has a research study coming up in the VA next year regarding the study of cranial electrical stimulation effects on brain chemistry.

Compass Mental Wellness is currently accepting new patients, and it recently expanded its scope of services to include primary care.
