Berlin’s newest B&B, The Inn Berlin, combines modern luxury and hospitality with history and character. This Victorian estate has a long history, dating back to the 1790s, and it took on new ownership in 2020 when Maya and Marco Tomasello purchased the property. The couple then oversaw months of exterior and interior renovations, giving the notable home a modern redesign. While the updates are drastic, the property’s rich history is still apparent in each unique room, delivering the perfect mix of old and new.

In May 2021, the newlyweds opened The Inn Berlin’s doors and began hosting guests. Maya, who has a master’s degree in business and hospitality, now serves as its innkeeper.

“I’ve been in the food industry since I was 14, and I’ve always had a passion for hospitality and customer service. The Inn allows me to combine all of my skills and experience into a profession,” shared Maya.

The Inn’s ambience embraces Berlin’s famously welcoming spirit. The property comprises five distinctively decorated rooms, which include en-suite bathrooms, individually controlled air conditioning and cozy furnishings. There is also an elegant living and dining area with contemporary furnishings, such as striking blue-velvet seating.

“We offer a bespoke experience for our guests. Just a few of the many add-on amenities we can provide are floral bouquets, artisanal cheese and charcuterie boards, packed picnic lunches, private dining experiences and private yoga sessions.”

Each morning, guests can enjoy peaceful conversations over a hearty breakfast that is prepared fresh by Maya. The breakfast menu is always evolving, and Maya takes into account guests’ requests, the seasonal accessibility of locally sourced ingredients and what is currently harvestable from in the Inn’s garden.

The property sits on 1.5 acres and is equipped to host a variety of outdoor events, such as intimate weddings. An exquisite garden terrace offers peaceful views of the Inn’s opulent landscaping, as well as a one-of-a-kind outdoor dining experience. The charming downtown of Berlin is just a short walk away.

Whether you are in search of a romantic getaway, a girls’ weekend or a spontaneous visit to the area, The Inn Berlin will certainly provide a welcoming, intimate experience that the area’s larger hoteliers can’t deliver.

  1. We stayed in June, my mother and I, and had a wonderful visit!
Maya is an incredible host. The Inn is perfectly situated for exploring the town of Berlin or Assateague Island and other coastal attractions.
