IN FULL BLOOM

Photo and description by Tony Pratt

Lewes was first settled by the Dutch in 1631 and was called Zwaanendael, or “Swan Valley.” Celebrating that original connection to Holland, Lewes holds an annual tribute to its Dutch heritage. This year, the Lewes Tulip Celebration will be held April 1-16 with more than20 blooming locations throughout town so that guests may meander along a trail named “Tiptoe Through the Tulips.” Additionally, on April1 — no fooling — there will be guided walking tours with local experts sharing Lewes’ maritime history. There will also be a tulip sale on April7-8. For more information, scan our QR code. CS
