On Memorial Day weekend of 1988, Al Casapulla fulfilled a dream by owning a sub-and-steak shop at the beach in Delaware. He opened his doors in Millville that day with 12 dozen sub rolls and sold out after the lunch rush concluded. The next day, Al was ready, this time armed with 45 dozen rolls. He once again sold out before the end of the day. Al realized then that he was offering the area a product that was very much needed, so he solicited help from his family in Wilmington, and a legend was born. So began the region’s love affair with Al Casapulla’s Subs, Steaks and Pizza and with the man himself.
Al has added many menu items over the years, such as his delicious pizza, huge salads and piping-hot pasta. After 34 years in business, he relentlessly values the hard work, loyalty and commitment of his staff of 25 employees and himself. He has won numerous awards and was mentioned in The Washington Post as a “Locals Secret.” Al has always prided himself on serving his customers the very best.
