Three generations and 73 years later, Megee Motors is the trusted boutique car dealership in Sussex County that focuses on service, relationships and community. Floyd Megee opened the first dealership selling Studebakers, and while this make is now history, Megee Motors is a premier Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram partner with a great selection of inventory.

Still, the dealership maintains its hometown feel and knows customers by name. “We have sold vehicles to three or four generations of families,” said Matt Megee, son of owners Vanessa and Terry Megee, who bought the dealership from Terry’s father, Floyd. Matt works in sales, service and parts. Their daughter Lindsay has worked as a salesperson, finance manager and title clerk. 

Megee Motors has evolved over the years, but its commitment to family and community values is a constant — and why customers choose to do business there. Megee Motors is a main sponsor and contributor to the Harry Kay Foundation, which supplies backpacks and pantry items to local schools. It supports the Boys and Girls Clubs, youth leagues, the local hospital and community college. 

Megee Motors is also a family business for families. Aside from the four Megees currently working there, other employees share the workplace with their loved ones. “It’s like extended family,” Vanessa said. “We have long-term, 10-plus-year employees here with us, and that’s a significantly high retention rate in our industry.” 

Megee Motors is a fulfilling career path for many. A key salesperson who has been with the business for more than 20 years started out washing cars in the detail shop. “Most of our people have grown with the business,” Vanessa said. 

The business is always evolving, too. It once offered the original Chrysler Grand Wagoneer, and now the next generation of this vehicle is being released as a specialty utility vehicle. The Jeep Wrangler has gained features that make it a luxurious ride. Terry Megee added, “Our coast is unique for fishermen, and we sell a lot of Jeeps to those customers, so that is exciting for this area.” Dodge Ram trucks are now like “traveling offices,” Vanessa stated, relating that these rugged vehicles have luxury features that high-end SUVs include.
