Vital Signs: Enhanced Cardiac Care on Delmarva

Delmarva Heart and Peninsula Cardiology Associates Join Peninsula Regional Health System (PRHS)

Heart health is one of the most important issues to people on Delmarva, and to help ensure the best, most accessible care possible, cardiology practices Delmarva Heart and Peninsula Cardiology Associates (PCA) have both become part of Peninsula Regional Medical Group (PRMG).

Both Delmarva Heart and PCA have provided exceptional cardiology care to the Lower Shore for decades. By joining PRHS, these practices are ensuring that they can continue their missions to provide the most modern heart care to the Delmarva Peninsula.

“To maintain the high quality of heart care on the Eastern Shore with the latest technologies and procedures, it was imperative for both Delmarva Heart and Peninsula Cardiology to have access to the resources that PRHS can provide. In addition, our resources and technology will help ensure that the brightest and best cardiologists will keep coming to work and live on Delmarva,” said Karin DiBari, MD, MMM, FACOG, Vice President of Peninsula Regional Medical Group and Chief Physician Executive for Peninsula Regional Medical Center and the Peninsula Regional Health System. “We have worked together for many years to take care of our community’s cardiology needs, and we look forward to continuing in that journey.”

Patients can continue to see their current providers in the same locations. Delmarva Heart has five cardiologists and five advanced practice professionals with locations in Salisbury and Berlin. Their robust research program will continue to allow patients access to cardiology-related clinical trials, with the research team joining Peninsula Regional’s Richard A. Henson Research Institute.

“We are excited to partner with PRMC to further our mutual goals of providing the highest level of cardiac care and serve the needs of the community,” said Steven Hearne, MD, FACC, of Delmarva Heart.

Peninsula Cardiology’s seven cardiologists also are continuing to practice in their Salisbury and Berlin locations. Their family medicine practices will also become part of PRMG.

“The entire Peninsula Cardiology team is enthusiastic about joining PRMG, as we believe this will enhance the well-being and experiences of our patients, improve clinical integration regionally, and ensure the continued provision of superior cardiac care on the Delmarva Peninsula for many years to come,” said Rene Desmarais, MD, of Peninsula Cardiology.

Both Delmarva Health and PCA will continue to maintain all current services for patients now and once the onboarding is complete, including cardiology, diagnostic testing and coumadin clinics.
