Video: Ocean City Air Show Sea Vs. Air Duel

Footage takes you onboard the Miss GEICO as it battles the solo pilots from the GEICO Skytypers

Off the resort’s shores Saturday, August 15, the Miss GEICO Offshore Racing Team from Riviera Beach, FL and the Long Island-based GEICO Skytypers performed a dual race during in the 2020 Ocean City Air Show.

The footage was captured from a GoPro mounted to the deck of the 47’ Miss GEICO Victory Catamaran, as well as cockpit video featuring Annapolis native and driver Travis Pastrana’s first time driving the race boat. Pastrana shares the cockpit with throttleman Sir Steve Curtis. Pastrana has won numerous X Games Gold Medals and other motorsports championships. Curtis has received more than 20 world championship titles and has been knighted by Queen Elizabeth for excellence in racing.

Turbulent water conditions and high waves didn’t allow Miss GEICO to perform at top speeds which typically reach more than 160 mph. The GEICO Skytypers pilots had a clear advantage during Saturday’s races.

The Ocean City Air Show is the first event of the 2020 season for the Miss GEICO race team and GEICO Skytypers.

The GEICO Skytypers fly six vintage WWII planes called SNJs — the planes that trained the pilots of The Greatest Generation, and perform low altitude precision tactical demonstrations at air shows all across the country.
