Triple Crown Cocktails: Black-Eyed Susan

The Preakness Stakes is one of Maryland’s biggest sporting events annually, taking place on the third Saturday in May. Its official cocktail, the Black-Eyed Susan, was created in 1973 by Harry Stevens, one of Pimlico’s longtime caterers, who wished to celebrate the race with a cocktail that mimicked the coloring of the Maryland state flower.

1 oz bourbon
2 oz orange juice
2 oz sour mix
Orange slice and cherry, for garnish
