The Sterling Tavern creates a fun, comfortable environment for customers and employees while providing fresh, home-cooked meals at a fair price. The gastropub wants people to feel like they’re home, whether enjoying the sunshine on the outdoor patio or beating the heat indoors in the cool dining room.

The restaurant boasts uncommonly good food, such as fresh boneless wings in a variety of flavors, chicken fingers, fish & chips, hand-pattied burgers, fresh raw oysters and scallop cheesesteaks. It is known for having 12 beers on tap, award-winning happy hour specials, live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and off-season activities like Trivia Mondays and Charity Bingo Wednesdays.

The Sterling Tavern opened in early 2021 just as the Covid restrictions were beginning to lift. Three years later, it’s a popular meeting place, with 60 front-of-house and back-of-house staff working harmoniously to keep their customers happy. Customers always receive excellent service and have a memorable dining experience. The team’s culinary talents were on display as they won The Greene Turtle’s 2023 Chili Cook-Off.

Owner Matt Borrelli named the tavern after his grandparents’ restaurant in Delaware City. “This is our first venture at owning a restaurant,” he says. “We’re passionate about giving back to our community and are grateful for our regular customers who have become friends!”
