Oyster River Joinery Is A Family Affair For Paul And Jula Sampson

Paul Sampson and his sister, Jula, joined their father’s custom woodworking business, then based at their family farm set in the forests of scenic Lincolnville, ME, in the mid-1980s. They’ve since relocated its headquarters and expanded its operations by investing in state-of-the-art milling and tooling technologies and propelled A.E. Sampson & Son Ltd. to an industry leader in custom wood-flooring throughout New England and beyond.

When not overseeing the mill and managing sales, they’re pursuing their passions as partners at Oyster River Joinery. Paul handcrafts wooden oyster platters — handpicking each board for its unique characteristics. He then shapes and carves the platter to accentuate the wood’s natural beauty.

Made for enjoying in the outdoors, Paul also makes fish, hen and shrimp platters. His works are treated with a food-safe finish, called Board Balm, from Beeyond Hope Farm — Jula’s personal creation, from which she also makes wood products for the home, including oyster coasters and lobster ornaments.
