Thanks to the generosity of the community, this year’s 2nd Annual Great Futures Gala proceeds topped $150,000, which more than doubled the 2019 total, with every dollar going towards the Oak Orchard-Riverdale Boys & Girls Club building expansion project (Phase 1).
Held February 6 at the Peninsula Golf & Country Club, the blue-tie affair featured live entertainment by the Flying Ivories Dueling Pianos and a culinary trip around the world.
Architects and engineers from Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. are currently designing Phase 1 of
the expansion, with input from Boys & Girls Club staff, which includes adding 2,400 square feet, removing temporary trailers and the creation of a multipurpose room for a much-needed teen program, according to officials. The long-term goal (Phase 2) is to build a full-size gymnasium nearby.
