Scott Edmonston founded SEA Studio Architects with a mind toward designing one-of-a-kind sustainable new homes that respond to the local environment and clients’ needs.

“We are committed to designing beautiful, sustainable houses and buildings in Delaware, Maryland and throughout the United States,” says Edmonston, noting that the Bethany Beach firm is most known for its responsive, elegantly simple designs. This is executed through a site analysis process that ensures homes take full advantage of available views, breezes and natural lighting.

“This makes each one of our designs a uniquely incredible place to live or vacation,” Edmonston says. Many SEA Studio Architects designs have been recognized with awards and articles in national and regional publications, such as earning honors from 10 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Delaware awards for excellence in design during the last several years.

“Our tight-knit team of 10 talented architects, designers and project managers are passionate about design,” Edmonston says. “They love listening to our clients, responding to their needs and working with them to envision the houses of their dreams.”

This includes selecting local, sustainable materials that significantly reduce environmental impact and employing design strategies that make buildings and spaces more comfortable, energy-efficient places to live and work.

The studio’s work in the commercial sector ranges from the Freeman Arts Pavilion and Fassett House Inn and Spa in Selbyville to the Delaware Botanic Gardens in Dagsboro. Residentially speaking, numerous homes across Delaware and Maryland reflect the firm’s mission and clients’ visions.
