State-of-the-art technology is the standard at Peninsula Imaging and it's latest acquisition puts them in the elite ranks of imaging centers nationally
State-of-the-art technology is the standard at Peninsula Imaging; however, it’s latest acquisition puts them in the elite ranks of imaging centers. In January, they added a new fully digital PET/CT scanner — the fifth center in the nation to receive this technology.
“If you have cancer, you want the best care you can get. Our PET/CT scanner is located within our warm and comfortable Woodbrooke office and offers convenient patient appointment scheduling five days a week — Monday through Friday,” Marketing Representative Lou Ann Leonard shared. Additionally, being centrally located in Salisbury, their location is convenient to area beach and retirement communities.
During this interview, Operations Manager Thomas Spencer compared analog images versus their new fully digital technology. The sharp contrast in detail is immediately evident. “It has the sensitivity to find cancer while small, enabling earlier treatment,” said Spencer.
Revolutionary, too, is that the new technology reduces a patient’s scan time by half. “Patients don’t have to lie still as long, and there is less radiation dose needed,” said Rocky Green, Director of Operations. “The digital images are much clearer improving diagnosis and ultimately the patient’s treatment plan.”
At their Woodbrooke location, patients have access to spa-like amenities including comfortable waiting areas with separate and private changing accommodations for men and women. Curbside parking and a canopied entrance are testaments to Peninsula Imaging’s patient-oriented approach.
Unlike other local free-standing imaging centers, Peninsula Imaging Radiologists are on-site. This allows them to interpret studies and generate reports quickly making them available to the referring physician in a timely manner. The Radiologists of Peninsula Imaging are all board-certified. Additionally, they are local residents and live in the communities they serve.
Peninsula Imaging is truly Delmarva’s imaging leader. They were first to bring 3T MRI, as well as digital and then 3D mammography to Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore. Services available at their facility include: 3T MRI, Low Dose CT, Virtual Colonoscopy (CT), PET/CT, 3D Mammography, Diagnostic X-Ray, Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound, Bone Density and Fluoroscopy.
