David Hudson had a lifelong fear of dentists that began with unsettling experiences as a child. Even after a freak nail-gun accident a year ago broke his two front teeth, Hudson vowed not to see a dentist. But there he was, at Delmarva Dental Services in Salisbury last January, facing the start of extensive work that the contractor from Wallops Island, VA, hoped would correct a lifetime of neglect.

“I couldn’t be any happier,” said Hudson, who’s on his way to the great smile he had given up on many years ago. The compassionate team at Delmarva Dental Services put him at ease from the start, even when it came to my fear of receiving anesthesia.”

“Through our thought process and the education and tools that we have here, and the labs that we use, we are able to make the dentistry part easy,” said Dr. Leigh Auchey, who has handled Hudson’s ongoing dental work. To be able to have patients who can say ‘I’m not afraid anymore,’ or ‘You can’t imagine what this has done for me,’ I think is the best part for me. I really think it’s about being able to talk to the patient.”

Experience is one of the hallmarks of the 35-year-old practice. Delmarva Dental’s providers, who include Dr. Joseph P. Harmon, Dr. Janet O. Cypher, Dr. Irene Sakellis and Dr. Auchey, have a combined 33 years of college and post-graduate education, in addition to nearly 350 hours of combined continuing education each year. They strive to remain up-to-date on all the latest techniques to provide the best service to their patients. This commitment helps patients maintain optimum dental health and provides them the smile of their dreams.

“It is a long way to go to a dentist, but it’s well worth it. I couldn’t be any happier with them.” — David Hudson

“They delivered exactly what they said they were going to deliver. I have not regretted one bit of that. I would highly recommend [Delmarva Dental Services to] anybody who wants to enhance their smile and be confident about it. It was a totally rewarding experience.” — Kelly Martin

Kathy Martin has traveled from Lewes since last July for appointments after marveling at a friend’s beautiful smile. Dr. Harmon, one of many staff members with at least two decades at Delmarva Dental Services, restored her smile with da Vinci veneers over her existing teeth.

“They delivered exactly what they said they were going to deliver,” Martin said. “I have not regretted one bit of that. I would highly recommend [Delmarva Dental Services to] anybody who wants to enhance their smile and be confident about it. It was a totally rewarding experience.”

The Delmarva Dental Services staff strives to make a trip to the dentist feel like home, compassionately guiding patients through each step of the smile revitalization process. They build relationships with patients and come to know about their families and daily lives. Most of all, the staff understands what worries patients. For Hudson, it was the fear that manifested over many years. For others, it’s concerns over work being done or the cost of that work. “We are a growing practice and a large practice, but that doesn’t take away anything from the personal touch that we like to provide to our patients,” Dr. Auchey said. “We are truly focused on the patient, their concerns and needs.”

Delmarva Dental Services provides treatments ranging from cleanings, composite fillings and crowns to root canals, extractions, dentures, Botox and Invisalign, featuring digital technology. They also offer convenient morning, afternoon and evening appointments six days a week, because their patients’ busy lives require flexible schedules.

“It’s about being available for our patients when they need us,” longtime office manager Becky Hopkins said.

There is no confusion. There is no uncertainty. There are only satisfied customers who become lifelong clients, with their winning smiles serving as word-of-mouth recommendations. Hudson has brought his wife, daughter and other family and friends to Delmarva Dental Services.

Hudson, who gladly drives an hour for dental appointments at Delmarva Dental, said, “It is a long way to go to a dentist, but it’s well worth it. I couldn’t be any happier with them.”
