September-October 2013 | SCREEN TEST

One of the best moves Blake McGrath ever made was to purchase a second home, in Ocean City, to escape the stress of his job as an EVP of marketing for a company in the NY-metro area. Life was good in Blake’s beach-side getaway, until he’d learned it would take four to six weeks to fix one of his home’s screen doors.

“That didn’t seem reasonable to me,” said McGrath. “By the time you got the door back, summer would practically have been over. At the same time, I’d see guys walking down Coastal Highway, lugging screen doors on their backs because they were too big for their cars. It kinda made me chuckle at the time, but when I thought about it, I realized it wasn’t that funny. That’s also when I realized that there just had to be a better way.”

And so there was. It’s called Screen-Mobile of Delmarva, and it’s been Blake McGrath’s new career since 2007. Incidentally, it’s pronounced like “Batmobile,” and for the incredible convenience it offers its customers, it’s just about as cool.

If you live in Ocean City, Berlin, Pocomoke, Salisbury, Cambridge, Rehoboth Beach, Millsboro, Easton, Dover or anywhere else on the entire Eastern Shore, ScreenMobile will come right to your home to re-screen porches, doors and windows, as well as fabricate brand-new, top-quality screens for porches, sliding screen doors and windows of practically any shape and size — in a choice of frame color and screen types. ScreenMobile not only offers on-site service but even picks up keys at property-management offices for the work to be done even if the homeowner is out of town. This is the amazingly convenient service that McGrath’s company provides.

“We’re are a distributor for PGT Eze-Breeze, which creates three-season rooms using vinyl four-track and sliding panels,” said Blake. “We are also the Eastern Shore’s exclusive distributor for Phantom Retractable Screen Products, including Phantom Retractable Screen Doors, Phantom Executive Motorized Screens [for larger openings] and Serene window screens.”

ScreenMobile’s products aren’t just quickly and conveniently installed; they are manufactured tough — meaning Eastern Shore tough.

“With the kind of wind we have down here on the Eastern Shore,” Blake averred, “there was no way we could use just any old screen; these winds rip lesser-quality screens to shreds in no time.”

That’s why McGrath carries a high-retention, tear-resistant screen called “SuperScreen,” which not only can stand up to the mighty winds of the Eastern Shore but also to things like your pets’ nails and even incoming golf balls, as well, so complete insect-protection is a no-brainer.

At this point it may not surprise you to learn that Blake’s company does more than just screens; it does “green,” too, with their status as an authorized dealer/ installer for products such as Sunair and SunSetter Retractable Awnings in addition to other solar-screening products in a wide variety of fabric choices and colors.

“It’s been more than two years since ScreenMobile replaced the screens and doors on our porch, and we just wanted to say how pleased we still are with them,” report Sharon and Dennis J., of Fenwick Island. “Despite going through Hurricane Sandy, numerous storms and lots of high winds out on the creek here (and probably a few bird strikes as well), the SuperScreens are as tight as the day they were first installed. Now that we’ve had these for a couple of years, we definitely wouldn’t want to use anything else. ScreenMobile of Delmarva has a great product and does excellent work.”

ScreenMobile of Delmarva also offers free estimates and is a member of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, the Ocean City Downtown Association and the Delmarva Condo Management Association.
