Sound FX decked out this beautiful Bethany Beach home with state-of-the-art home automation, including the wireless Sonos system

There’s a reason Sound FX in Lewes wins awards for its work. A recent case in point involves the installation of a home- automation system in the Bethany Beach residence of one very satisfied client.

One thing the owner wanted from the outset was a way to close the blinds on the south side of the house, to get rid of sun glare in the late afternoon. To address this, Sound FX technicians installed Crestron-powered automated blinds that open and close with the push of a button, along with a series of wall-mounted iPads to control those blinds and the rest of the home’s automated electronics. After that came the installation of the flat-screen HDTVs, which were deployed in the living room, office, family room and bedrooms. Cable boxes and DVD players, meanwhile, were concealed in nearby cabinets to preserve the home’s elegant aesthetics. Infrared emitters and behind-the-wall wiring were also used, so that the owner could control her new TVs without having to access those component cabinets. All she needs to do is simply point the remote at the TV screen and push the buttons that will relay her commands.

A central part of giving the beautiful three-story beach home that clean, hardware-free look was the Sonos system Sound FX selected for it. Sonos is a smart system of HiFi wireless speakers and audio components that unites your entire digital music collection in a single app that can be controlled from any digital device (though this particular client prefers to use the wall-mounted iPads Sound FX installed for her). The only actual “wire” involves one plug into any standard AC wall outlet. The rest is done with silent invisibility between the Sonos system and the router of your home’s network.

For this client, the Sonos system was run through her three bedrooms, the kitchen, sunroom, office, family room and living room. Sound FX was able to seamlessly integrate the system with discreetly mounted high-end luxury speakers in the walls and ceiling. Next, the Sonos Connect, Connect: Amp and Sonos Playbar products were incorporated, so the client could enjoy tunes from almost any cloud music service, including Pandora, Spotify, Amazon and Rhapsody, to name a few. She even has the option of streaming different music to every automated room in the house or playing her local music library on her computer or mobile digital device. The result is a state-of-the-art wireless system whose sound spectrum is designed to sound like it has more speakers than it actually does.

“Sound FX has been a pleasure to work with in designing and building the media system for my new home,” praised the client. “They are knowledgeable, practical and extremely responsive, both during the building phase and after. We could not be more satisfied, and we enthusiastically recommend them!”

Sound FX also specializes in home-theater design and installation, full home automation, residential and business security systems, commercial A/V control systems and mobile electronics.
