What made you decide to practice medicine on the Eastern Shore?
I decided to practice on the Eastern shore for several reasons. My wife's family is from here, so I grew fond of it from visiting them over the holidays, back when we were still dating in high school. It seemed like a safe and peaceful place to raise a family, and I've always loved the water. — VP
Several things made me want to practice on the Shore. Most important was working alongside Dr. Perrotta. I was excited to have the opportunity to work with him. I also love the lifestyle the Shore. I have always had a love of the water, and here I am, surrounded by the ocean and rivers. — CP
What significant advancements do you anticipate in the next 10 years?
Mainly, I anticipate technological advancements in our field. I expect to see continued improvement in breast implants and longer-lasting injectables, such as Botox and Juvederm. Our latest injectable is Voluma, from Allergan, which lasts for up to two years! I also anticipate advances in the devices that reliably tighten the skin far more than the lasers and other devices of today. — VP
I mostly anticipate the progression of stem cell research. — CP
What’s the most recent addition you’ve made to your practice to improve the patient experience?
To improve our practice we have recently added Julie Parrish, PA. She brings extensive general medical experience to our team. — CP
Our personnel, starting at the top, with our administrator, Jennifer LeCates. My partner, Dr. Pellegrino, and I place a premium on the way our employees work with one another and with each one of our patients. Our staff is the "A" team. They work together to make sure each patient is cared for individually and that the patient feels like part of our family. — VP
What gives you the most satisfaction from your work?
Experiencing the excitement and joy my patient feels during the “unveiling” of a postoperative result. — VP
The most satisfying aspect of my work is assisting to improve a patients quality of life. I enjoy working with my patient’s to help make them feel better about themselves. — CP
Why do you feel you excel in your field?
I believe I do well in the field of plastic surgery for two reasons: First, I am my own worst critic. I am seldom totally satisfied with my results, even when I have exceeded the patient’s greatest hopes and expectations. So, I take great pains to produce the perfect result, even if it were to mean a revision. If a revision is needed, which is rare, there is usually little to no cost to the patient for the procedure. This is just one of the many benefits of having our own operating room. We are very fortunate to have a system in place that almost invariably culminates with complete patient satisfaction. Second, I surround myself with top-quality people. Patients often tell me my office is by far the happiest and friendliest they've ever experienced. We have such a good time that it often doesn't even feel like work. — VP
What is a recent breakthrough in your field?
Oncoplastic surgery is a new approach to treating women afflicted with breast cancer. Through oncoplastic surgery, we are able to lower the rate of local recurrence, reduce the side-effects of radiation therapy and provide the patient with beautiful, symmetric breasts, whether they opt for mastectomy or lumpectomy — and it's all covered by their medical insurance. — VP
The re-emergence of fat grafting. This is a useful tool in facial rejuvenation and also for shaping in breast reconstruction after lumpectomy or mastectomy. — CP
What makes your practice unique?
We offer several services that are unique on the Eastern Shore. We have our very own onsite operating room, to name one. Our patients love the privacy it provides as well as the convenience and familiarity of not having to go to another facility for surgery. There are also many nuances in the cosmetic procedures we perform, as Dr. Pellegrino and I work very hard to remain cutting edge. — VP
We have brought extensive laser techniques to our practice. Laser technology is quickly developing, from body contouring to laser hair and tattoo removal to resurfacing. We offer the most state-of-the-art treatment on the Shore. — CP
